Overnight stays in the Bochnia Salt Mine

The age-old truth that night-time rest is good for health becomes even more meaningful in the Bochnia Salt Mine. Its unique microclimate has beneficial effects on the respiratory system, relieves symptoms of allergies and strengthens the immunity system.

During the overnight stay, visitors have at their disposal a sports field, a disco and a children's playground.

Overnight stays are organised in the largest of the chambers, the Ważyn: 

It is located 250 meters underground.

It offers 252 beds, restaurant and recreational facilities, in which a sports field, a playground, and a conference room are located.

Additional attractions During the night spent in the mine, you can benefit from additional attractions: a tour of the mine, crossing a gallery flooded with brine by a ferry.

Worth knowing

  1. Visitors are taken back to the surface between 8:00 and to 10:00 am. 
  2. Groups leave the mine in the same order in which they went down. 
  3. Persons who buy overnight stays without bed linen are required to bring their own sleeping bags. 
  4. The temperature in the mine is between 14 and 16°C, with relative humidity of 70%.
  5. It is recommended that visitors bring warm clothing. 
  6. Your are recommended to bring warm clothing and comfortable shoes. 
  7. Along the tourist route, you will have to go up or down about 700 stairs.  
  8. During your stay under the ground, you will be accompanied by a guide. 
  9. Persons whose condition indicates consumption of alcohol or other similar substances are forbidden to go down into the mine. 
  10. Only adults can go down into the mine unaccompanied. 
  11. Children and youth under 18 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. 
  12. In the mine, it is prohibited to carry or smoke tobacco or carry lighting material. 
  13. Counterindications for going down into the Mine: circulatory and respiratory insufficiency and claustrophobia.


Discounts

  1. Free stays are available for children up to 3 years of age, and 1 caregiver for every 10 children.
  2. Discount tickets are available to children up to 3 years of age, school children and students up to 26 years of age upon presentation of a valid school or university ID card, and retirees and pensioners on presentation of a valid identity card issued by the Social Insurance Institution.
  3. A school ticket is available to a group of pre-school children (min. 15 persons) and elementary school, middle school or high school students who participate in a joint program of sightseeing by advance booking.

Entering the mine for the overnight stay in the Bochnia Salt Mine for individual tourists is possible only on dates determined by prior arrangement with the Tourist Office.

Advance booking is required with the Tourist Office
